Sharp Sand – Coarse Grit Sand for Paving, Screeding, Drainage and Landscaping

Sharp Sand, also known as grit sand or concreting sand, is a coarse, free-draining sand widely used across construction and landscaping projects. Its angular grain structure provides excellent strength and stability, making it the ideal choice for laying paving slabs, block paving, floor screeds, external rendering, and general ground preparation. Whether you’re building a patio, improving drainage, or preparing a base layer, Sharp Sand delivers reliable, long-lasting results.

Because it drains water effectively and resists compaction better than soft sands, Sharp Sand is perfect for use in areas that need a strong, supportive base. Its gritty texture helps create firm bedding layers for slabs and blocks, ensuring surfaces stay level and secure over time. When mixed with cement, it also produces a durable mortar suitable for construction, pointing and external render applications.

Sharp Sand is equally useful in gardening and horticulture. Its coarse particles help improve soil structure, making heavy clay soils easier to work with and better draining—ideal for planting beds, lawns and turf preparation. This makes it a versatile, multi-purpose material suitable for both professional contractors and home gardeners.

Supplied in convenient bulk bags, our Sharp Sand is clean, consistent and ready for use in all types of domestic and commercial projects.
